We All Need A Little Glee

“So that’s what death tastes like.”
Marcus Wright, Terminator Salvation

Now to take my mind off of the current drama of the last post I will take my mind of it with a couple of comments on Terminator Salvation and Fox’s new series Glee. Potential spoilers, but I won’t go into it to severely.

A few days ago I watched the pilot for Glee. And I seriously LOVED the show! It was so much fun and really funny! It’s not really something I thought I would love, but it was fun and quirky. Lots of fun characters, and some seriously talented people with tons of potential! I hope the show will continue to impress me later this fall.

So this past Wednesday I went and saw Terminator Salvation at midnight. I have to say I fucking loved it! I know there are a lot of people out there who really hated it, but I suppose I always kept a cool look and expected just “another good Terminator movie” and with that being said it was just that. I know a lot of people expected a lot, how on earth why is the question? McG was helming this people! I know he promised a lot, but seriously you shouldn’t have expected anything more.

I loved all the cool little throw backs for fans of the series, the T-800 scene was ultra badass and I got a little pumped and nostalgic back from when I was an Arnold fan (wait, I said what? You heard it right, back when I was like 7 I was a big fan, haha – my excuse is that I was 7, okay?!) and I loved the action. The additional robots were seriously cool, and I know people are complaining that they were ‘too advanced’ for the time line, but honestly I lost track of this story’s time lines years ago. I get there are some people who try to make it work, but honestly you just can’t. There has been two many creative teams behind everything. From the first two films, Terminator 3, to the TV series and now the new set of trilogy set to be underway by McG, somethings don’t add up. But I’ll accept it. Like the Halloween series for instance. Just enjoy each film as it’s own entity, although some work as a “series” together. And while there are plenty of plot wholes and under developed characters you can pick apart, I can still say that I LOVED Terminator Salvation and it was what I expected, but did entertain me a little more!

Sam Worthington was awesome! I had high hopes for him for a while now, but he did an even better job than I expected. He was scary at times, funny, charismatic and so fourth. He really stole the show from Christian Bale and with that, I’ll say this: I really wish they had kept John Connor as a supporting character rather than beef up the role “just cause it was Christian”. I know that in the original script Marcus Wright was the main lead, and I suppose when they casted Christian it was demanded to be rewritten. Marcus was such an interesting character, all that back story they could have explained (As he was on death row at the beginning), plus the fact that you can’t take your eyes off of him whenever he was on screen. I would love to see more of this character in the future films!

While I did love the movie, I do understand the problems with it. The plot holes, time line confusion etc. Also many characters had nothing to do, like poor Bryce Dallas Howard. It was never even addressed that it was John Connor’s baby. It seems obvious and it’s implied, but how do we really know? She could have been romancin’ with Common for all we know? I really liked Anton Yelchin as Kyle Reese but I wish they had put more into such an important character and story too.

SPOILERS:

If they don’t bring back Marcus, I will be really angry. Heh!

I haven’t watched the new Terminator. I’m also a huge of Arnold back then and the past 3 Terminator movies. Looking forward to seeing it!!

Thankfully any fandom I had for Arnold has passed, haha. Although I do find him really funny in a bad way in the first Terminator films!
